Horse Desensitization Clinic (8am-1pm) $180

  • Zia Park 8410 Stoneville Road Gidgegannup, WA, 6083 Australia (map)

This program is suitable for Novice and Intermediate riders who are welcome to bring their own horse or ride one of ours.

Have you ever wondered, "Do I push my horse to accept the scary tree in the corner, or do I let him stop and to have a look?"

Knowing when to reassure your horse of a potentially 'scary' item, or when to push them through/past it, is the key to having good experiences with your horse.

The aim of this clinic is to learn about the horse's flight behavior, what causes it, and how to help them overcome new or scary objects and experiences. We will be exposing some of our horses to tarps, balloons, balls, swinging sticks, pool noodles, water, and more!

There will be a mixture of mounted and unmounted sessions in this clinic. Groundwork is an integral part of desensitization.

We will discuss the use and importance desensitization, and how we can all achieve a happier, quieter horse!

* This clinic will also have components included in our Zia Park Training Show (Handy Pony Obstacle Course) on 30 January 2022.
