School Holiday Program - 8 to 18 years - Introduction to Showjumping (Nov/Int Riders)

Session times are 0800 to 1 PM daily. The program is specifically designed for Novice and Intermediate Riders (confident to canter in 2 and 3 point position in an arena). This is an introduction to jumping, starting with simple position exercises and poles on the ground. It is a requirement for riders to be able to canter to join this program. Prior experience in any jumping is not necessary.

 

Topics will include, but are not limited to: trot poles, canter poles, counting canter strides, riding in 2-point (a.k.a the jumping position), ground poles, small jumps not exceeding 60cm, and measuring strides on foot.

 

Riders will have at least 2 mounted lessons per day, theory sessions cover rules of competition, horse care and stable management.

 

This program aims to help riders be confident with jumping exercises to understand good position and control of rhythm and steering. It is important to develop understanding of how to ride a clear round.
